SBB Mobile App Update Enables Corporate Booking of International Rail Tickets

SBB Mobile App Update Enables Corporate Booking of International Rail Tickets
The 12.46.1 release of the SBB Mobile app, rolled out on 27 October 2025, adds business-to-business (B2B) functionality for international rail bookings and seat reservations. Corporate users with travel-management accounts can now purchase cross-border tickets—such as Zurich–Munich or Basel–Milan—directly in the app, rather than via desktop portals or ticket counters.

The update is part of SBB’s drive to digitise the full booking lifecycle. It supports cost-centre allocation, VAT-compliant receipts and automatic integration with leading expense platforms. According to SBB, pilot corporations reported a 35 % reduction in transaction time per booking during beta testing.

For mobility managers, the in-app feature reduces leakage from approved channels and gives clearer data on employee rail usage, aiding sustainability reporting. The app already accounts for more than 60 % of all domestic ticket sales; extending B2B sales to cross-border trips closes a critical gap as firms shift short-haul travel from air to rail to meet ESG targets.

The release also fixes minor bugs affecting Apple Wallet ticket storage and improves real-time disruption notifications. Android and iOS versions are live; an MDM-compatible APK for corporate devices will follow in November.
