Smartwings launches high-frequency Brussels–Prague link aimed at business travellers
Czech carrier Smartwings inaugurated a new Brussels-Prague service on 26 October and, on 27 October 2025, confirmed the route will ramp up to twelve weekly flights for the winter timetable. Two daily rotations on weekdays (08:55 and 19:30 ex-BRU; 06:40 and 17:15 ex-PRG) plus weekend services shorten door-to-door times for Eurocrats, diplomats and tech-sector commuters between the EU capital and Central Europe.

The one-hour-30-minute hop competes directly with Brussels Airlines but offers lower ‘Lite’ fares from €150 return, one piece of 8 kg cabin baggage included. Smartwings says its Boeing 737-8 fleet meets the latest ICAO Stage 5 noise standard and burns 15 % less fuel than previous-generation aircraft, aligning with Brussels Airport Company’s 2027 sustainability roadmap.

For Belgian companies with operations in Prague’s fast-growing fintech and automotive clusters—and Czech firms supplying pharmaceuticals and machinery to Belgium—the schedule supports same-day return meetings and short-term project assignments, cutting hotel and per-diem costs.

The launch also strengthens BRU’s position as a mini-hub for Central-European connectivity after recent openings to Kraków and Budapest. Travel-policy teams should add Smartwings to approved-carrier lists, noting that the airline holds IOSA certification but has more restrictive involuntary-re-route clauses than EU majors.

Smartwings hinted at further Benelux expansion, tweeting that Barcelona, Porto and Rome are next on its radar, signalling intensified competition for incumbent carriers on secondary routes.
