UAE-Africa Tourism Investment Summit opens in Dubai, focuses on sustainable hospitality deals
Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah hosted the inaugural UAE-Africa Tourism Investment Summit on 27 October under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. More than 350 delegates from 53 African countries joined UAE officials to discuss projects ranging from eco-lodges in Rwanda to aviation joint ventures in Senegal.

The summit—part of the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS World 2025)—positions the UAE as a financing gateway for Africa’s US$168 billion tourism market. For mobility professionals the event signals future intra-company transfers and greenfield assignments as Emirati hotel groups such as Jumeirah and Rotana pledge to open or manage 27 new properties across the continent by 2028.

Panel discussions highlighted visa facilitation as a priority; speakers called for more e-visa agreements and reciprocal multiple-entry schemes between the UAE and key African partners. Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism announced it is studying a ‘digital nomad bridge visa’ that would allow African entrepreneurs to base themselves in Dubai while working on projects across both regions.

The Ministry of Economy confirmed that an outcome document—including project pipelines and proposed regulatory reforms—will be circulated to stakeholders by mid-November, giving companies an early look at upcoming opportunities and talent-deployment requirements.
