An IndiGo Airbus A320 scheduled to operate flight 6E-509 from Delhi to Kochi on the morning of 2 November was taken out of service after crew detected a systems fault during taxi. All passengers were de-planed and provided meals while a standby aircraft was positioned, resulting in a delay of just over three hours.

Although the airline swiftly arranged an alternate jet, the incident is the latest in a string of technical-glitch delays affecting India’s fastest-growing carrier. Industry analysts link the uptick to utilisation rates that average 13 hours per airframe per day and to supply-chain shortages for Pratt & Whitney engine spares.

For corporate travel programmes, recurrent sub-four-hour delays typically fall below duty-of-care escalation thresholds but can derail same-day meetings. Travel managers may wish to schedule critical appointments for afternoon slots when flying into Kochi, or retain virtual options as back-up.

IndiGo says its on-time performance remains above 82 per cent, yet it has quietly extended minimum connection times at Delhi and Bengaluru hubs. Expect continued sporadic disruptions until new engines and aircraft join the fleet in mid-2026.
