All-Saints Holiday Surge: Bison Futé Flags ‘Orange’ Traffic Day on 31 October
France’s traffic-monitoring agency Bison Futé has issued an ‘orange’ (difficult) travel alert for Friday 31 October, predicting heavy congestion nationwide as the Toussaint (All Saints) holiday coincides with the final weekend of school breaks.

Key bottlenecks Outbound flows toward the Mediterranean (A7, A8), Atlantic coast (A63, RN165) and Benelux/German borders (A1, A2, A31) are expected from early afternoon through late evening. Return traffic will peak from late morning. Île-de-France ring roads and approaches to Roissy-CDG and Orly could see delays exceeding one hour at peak.

Cross-border implications Business travellers heading to Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany or Italy by road should factor in extended border-checkpoint queues, as France continues spot Schengen checks linked to its prolonged internal-security regime. Rail operator Thalys warns of knock-on delays due to road congestion around Lille Europe and Brussels-Midi stations.

Corporate mobility advice Employers should:
• Encourage flexible scheduling or remote work for staff who would normally drive or take intercity coaches.
• Permit additional travel time—especially for assignees connecting to long-haul flights at CDG/Orly.
• Monitor local prefecture feeds for any ad-hoc protest actions, which have disrupted toll plazas in previous holiday periods.

Outlook Traffic is forecast to ease to ‘green’ levels by Monday 3 November, but a second ‘orange’ day is possible Sunday afternoon in the return direction.
