flydubai launches direct flights to Chișinău, adding rare Gulf–Moldova link
Dubai-based LCC flydubai inaugurated a twice-weekly service to Chișinău on 26 October and issued its first operational update on 27 October, making the airline the only UAE carrier with nonstop flights to Moldova. The route uses Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft configured with both business and economy cabins and will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The new connection opens a direct mobility corridor for Moldovan professionals working in the UAE’s retail and hospitality sectors, who previously relied on multi-stop itineraries via Istanbul or Bucharest. It will also support project teams from UAE construction firms active in Eastern Europe under Belt-and-Road-linked contracts.

flydubai’s Divisional SVP Jeyhun Efendi said demand forecasts are strong among VFR (visiting-friends-and-relatives) travellers and niche leisure segments interested in Moldova’s wine tourism. UAE residents can obtain Moldovan e-visas online within ten days, while Moldovan nationals continue to require a UAE visit visa but benefit from streamlined processing through flydubai’s travel-partner network.

The launch underscores flydubai’s strategy of targeting underserved secondary cities; Chișinău is its eighth new European point this year. Mobility planners should note that checked-baggage allowances on the route are aligned with the carrier’s ‘Lite’ and ‘Value’ fare families, which differ from Emirates-code-share policies.
