IndiGo re-opens Vijayawada–Singapore route; bookings surge for 15 November launch
Low-cost carrier IndiGo confirmed on 23 October that bookings are live for its non-stop Vijayawada–Singapore flight, restarting a connection that lapsed in 2019. The tri-weekly service (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays) will cut travel time for Andhra Pradesh’s business community to just over four hours, compared with six-plus hours via Chennai or Hyderabad.

Introductory one-way fares start at ₹9,239 ex-Vijayawada and ₹10,814 ex-Singapore, making it attractive for small- and medium-sized exporters in the state’s booming pharma and agritech sectors. The flight is timed to arrive in Vijayawada at 07:45 and depart at 10:05, allowing same-day onward connections to Delhi and Mumbai.

The route benefits from IndiGo’s new codeshare with Singapore Airlines, enabling through-ticketing to Australia, Japan and the US West Coast. Mobility managers should note that corporate fares under existing IndiGo-SAIL agreements will apply. The airline is deploying an Airbus A320-neo configured with 180 seats; cargo belly capacity is expected to support rapid movement of time-sensitive goods like vaccines.

State officials are optimistic the service will revive outbound medical travel and inbound religious tourism to the Amaravati region. If load-factors exceed 85 % during Q1 2026, IndiGo says it may upgrade frequency to daily.

Travel-policy tip: Employees connecting from Visakhapatnam or Tirupati can combine the service with IndiGo’s late-night red-eye shuttles, avoiding overnight stays in Chennai.
